Copilot is a generative AI service offered by Microsoft in four distinct versions: Copilot (Personal), Copilot (Enterprise), Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Copilot Studio. Copilot is a dual-function service, generating text and images based on text prompts. BYU has access to Copilot Enterprise (for employees and students) and Microsoft 365 Copilot (for employees only) but does not currently have access to Copilot Studio or Azure AI Studio. Evaluations are being conducted on these additional services.

This service is conditionally approved. This means that some, but not all, Microsoft Copilot AI products are approved or available. Refer to the table below for more information.
This service is conditionally approved, meaning not every Microsoft Copilot AI product is approved or available. Refer to the table below for more information. Copilot Enterprise and Microsoft 365 Copilot provide commercial data protection. According to BYU's contractual agreement, approved Copilot services will not store or use user data to train AI language models.
However, Nonpublic Institutional Data should not be entered or shared through Microsoft Copilot chat.
